NOVA is a proud Organizational Affiliate of the American Nurses Association (ANA) - a professional organization that represents the interests of over 3 million of the nation’s registered nurses. ANA started in 1896 as the Nurses Associated Alumnae and was renamed the American Nurses Association in 1911. ANA’s mission is to advance the nursing profession by setting high standards of nursing practice, promoting the rights of nurses in the work place, and by lobbying Congress on health care issues affecting the public.

Americans for Nursing Shortage Relief
NOVA is a member of the Americans for Nursing Shortage Relief - a nationwide alliance of nursing organizations committed to alleviating the nursing shortage through implementing a set of initiatives. These actions include increasing the nursing workforce, expanding nursing education, providing opportunities for nurses’ professional advancement and raising public awareness of the nursing shortage and its impact on the quality of the nation’s health care.
